Simple Holiday Bunting with Stick Interlining from Fairfield

This Christmas season has really snuck up on me.  I've been so busy with my Etsy shops, that all we've had time for are projects that are really fast and easy.

And this fun bunting is definitely fast and easy.  Katie and I were able to finish it in under 20 minutes and that was even with me taking the pictures for it.

Katie told me a while ago that her teacher LOVES Charlie Brown and Snoopy, so when I saw this Peanuts Christmas fabric at Jo-Anns I knew we would need to make something out of it.

We decided on a bunting.

Materials:
2/3 yard of fabric for flags.
1/8 yard coordinating fabric for hanging strip, or store bought double fold bias tape.
2/3 yard of stick interlining from Fairfield.  And a big thank you to Fairfield for providing me with some Stick to try out for this project and compensating me for this post.  All ideas and opinions are my own.

Directions:

We wanted the flags to be double sided, but we didn't want to do a lot of sewing to finish off the edges.  Instead, We sandwiched our Stick interlining in between our fabric, so that our fabric was folded in half with the Stick in between.

Iron well to activate the stick.

Cut into triangles that are 6 inches wide and 8 inches tall.

I made my own coordinating bias tape (although I cheated and didn't really cut it on a bias), but you could just buy it.  If you want to make your own, see Dana's tutorial here.

Start by sewing about 6 inches of your bias tape closed.

Then start adding your triangles inside the main fold of the bias tape and continue stitching.

When you've made your banner as long as you'd like it, end by sewing  about 6 inches of bias tape closed without a triangle.

Than hang and have fun!
