As for the day after, I haven't quite decided how much shopping I'll be doing. Since we live in such a small town, any time we get away, we usually do a little shopping...but I hate the crowds and shopping mania that goes on for Black Friday.
Black Friday, is typically the day that flannel and fleece go on sale super cheap at Jo-Anns...and fleece blankets make for easy and cozy gifts for family or for sharing with those in need.
Looking for some easy and kid-approved ideas to do with all that cheap fleece or flannel? Here are some projects I've done in the past.
Last year we made somewhere around 8 fleece blankets to give with other Christmas gifts to kids on the Giving Tree at Firecracker's school. I've never been a fan of the knots on fleece blankets, so instead I figured out a way to make these braided edge fleece blankets. I think they look a bit classier, and they're definitely more comfortable to lay on top of without the knots.
Also last year, I made this fleece fitted sheet for Little Brother's toddler bed. He's now outgrown that bed and the toddler bed is now loved by Sweet Pea...and she's still using his car themed fleece sheet. I think I'll be making her a new -girlier- fleece fitted sheet to match the quilt I'm planning for her.
Of course a classic Christmas gift is flannel pajamas. You can see my recent post here about how to make easy and cute coordinating flannel pjs.
There are also some cute variations...the Big Sister Burp Cloths
And even if you don't have a baby in the house, those flannel burp cloths also make great boogie wipers for toddlers on up.
