I joined my first swap hosted by Hammer and Thread back before Christmas. Becca loved helping me get our squares ready for mailing so much (and loves I-Spy in general so much) that I decided to give her her own set of squares for Christmas.
So after Christmas we worked together to put her quilt together. I have her a board (one of the art boards from this post actually) to lay out about 24 squares at a time on. She got to lay them down however she wanted but I gave her the "rule" to make sure the same color wasn't right next to each other. Then I went through and turned some of the squares so that there was no "up" and "down. There were squares facing all directions. (These are actually squares I laid out for a different project, but it gives you the idea.)
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the whole quilt sewed up. It probably helped that Becca didn't do nearly as much soul-searching and inward debate about which squares to place where as I did.
Since Becca already had a quilt the right size for her toddler bed, we made this twin size...which means that if we fold it in half it fits her bed.
We have fun at bedtime playing I-Spy...and the quilt is so big that we can just move it around to a different place and have a whole new set of squares.

It looks like it was a beautiful day out for pictures. I love her I-spy quilt. I bet she was a big help in placing the squares. Maybe Matt and Chris can help me with mine since I tend to over think the placement when I work on mine, too.
