Double Dino Applique and Knee Patches

Here's the new outfit I finished for Boy in between scoring a million AZ 10th grade writing essays.
If the cars get driven on it, you know it's got his stamp of approval.
What do you think?
You want one?
Or how about two?
I wish I had one of these to give to each of my 100+ awesome followers...but alas...I just have one extra set...as in 1 shirt applique and 2 knee patches to be given away together to one lucky reader.  (Note:  You will have to sew these appliques onto your own shirt and pair of pants...this giveaway is JUST for the applique and knee patches!)

If you're more interested in girly designs, be sure to check back.  There'll be another girly giveaway soon to celebrate making it to 100 followers!

Ways you can enter:

  • Leave me a nice comment about this post or telling me about another project on my blog you really like.  (Any other intro...where you're from...how you found my blog...etc is always nice.)

  • Become a follower and leave me a second comment telling me you're a follower.  (Or a second comment telling me that you already were a follower.)

  • If you've ever left a comment on my blog BEFORE this post, then leave me a third comment telling me that you've left comments before.
I promise a tutorial is coming, though, for those of you who don't win...but alas...more essays are calling my name this week, so I'll have to see when I can squeeze it in.

And this isn't for an extra entry, but this is a great cause, and there's a seperate giveaway for it on my mom's blog.  My mom is doing a half-marathon next weekend and is asking people to sponsor her by donating money to help drill wells in developing countries to provide people with clean drinking water.  100% of donations go straight to the water projects.  I'd love it if you check out her blog post by clicking on the button below and consider donating, even if it's just a small amount.

  33. I *love* these!!! I got several otherwise great condition jeans with holes in the knees. I have been trying to figure out a creative and fun way to make patches. You have certainly inspired me! I was thinking of reversing the patches though. So, instead of striped dinos, it would be denim dinos, and courderoy background. Do you think that would work? I love how you make these outfits match too! genius!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Emily...Yes, I think that would work well. If you make some like that, I'd love to see pictures of them. The only thing with making the dinos out of denim is that you'll want to either use a satin stitch around them or use fray check...and even then the edges may fray just a bit, but that look can be really cute too.

  35. I just found your blog via your Very Hungry Caterpillar Appliqué tut I have become slightly obsessed with craft relating to said caterpillar lately and yours is adorable. I have enjoyed rambling through your blog and have become a follower so I can find you when I am ready to make my own! Not to mention not miss out on more of your tuts.

  37. Hi there! I stumbled upon your blog tonight, and I am glad I did! I am an AZ mom of 3 as well, with one boy who turns 18 months old tomorrow. He would love to go all T-Rex while wearing this outfit..ok I realize it's probably a brontosaurus which I am diggin'.

    ReplyDelete
  38. These look fantastic! I'm too late to enter, but had a question anyhow! How did you stitch the patches onto the knees of the jeans? From the picture it looks like they're machine stitched, but there's no way I could fit the leg of a toddler sized pair of jeans under my needle without stitching through the whole thing!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'll have a tutorial up for the patches in the next couple days...maybe even today if we're lucky. The short answer to your question, though, is that I open up one of the leg seams, put the patch in, and resew it.
