Some of you may remember the Star Cut-Out Cupcakes I made for Firecracker's class on her birthday...well here's an easy version for St. Patrick's Day, and all it takes is a small heart shaped cookie cutter. We really don't do much to celebrate St. Patrick's Day around here...I'm kind of ready for a break from holidays for a few month or two this time of year...but I figured since she made cupcakes anyway, why not make the frosting green.
And since I'm not a St. Patrick's Day diehard fan...I tried a few other green cut-outs. I think any of them could satisfy a leprechaun...or two
Here's what you do...
Cut the top off your cupcake with a serrated knife. (I used this tip from Six Sisters' Stuff to fill the cupcakes a little more full with batter and then cook them at 325 degrees instead of 350 to get a rounder cupcake---Mine didn't get quite as round as theirs, but it still worked really well.)
Cut three hearts out of your cupcake top.
Frost your cupcake with green frosting.
Replace the top of your cupcake.
Instant fun....and ready to eat...
