I get asked a lot about what projects are good for beginners and this zippered pillow cover is really easy and a great way to practice a zipper.
Time Required: About half-an-hour
Skill Level: Beginner
You'll need:
- Home Elegance® Pillow 24″ x 24″
- 2/3 Yard 54" Wide Cotton Fabric OR 1 1/3 yards 45" wide fabric. Regular quilting cotton will work, but I prefer a medium weight cotton for this project because it holds it's form better. (Note: The particular cotton fabric I chose came 54″ wide which allowed me to cut both pillow pieces side-by-side from 2/3 yards of fabric. If you’re using regular 42-44″ wide fabric, you may want to make 20″ pillow, so you don’t have to buy twice as much fabric.)
- 22" Zipper
- Coordinating Thread
- Pins
- Sewing Machine
- Rotary Cutter and Mat or Scissors
