Infant Gift Ideas to make you a Favorite Grandma...

...or Grandpa or Aunt/Uncle/Cousin/Whatever

Here are some great ideas.  My mom made Sweet Pea this cute fabric ball.  We had one of these when I was a kid and now we get one too...except the one my mom made is even cute.  I love all these colors and a lot of them are scraps from projects we did together that have special meaning.  And of course even more importantly...Sweet Pea loves it!  With all those hand holds, her sweet little hands can pick it up so easy.  (The only real problem is that the older kids like to play with it too and will occassionally take it for themselves.)  You want to make one?  She's got a tutorial for these awesome fabric balls on her blog.

Another way to score...make some Baby Wallet Cards.  Sweet Pea LOVES wallets.  If she sees me carrying mine in a store, she has a FIT until she gets to hold it.  Her favorite part is pulling out all the cards...which of course is not good if I want to keep track of them.  Hubby was telling his mom about this, and she came up with the idea of making these fun Baby Wallet Cards.  They're the same size as credit cards, so they fit in a wallet.  They have an assortment of cute kid-type pictures as well as photographs, and then she laminated them.  Put them in an old wallet or one you find at a thrift store for a VERY popular toy.

Also ever popular are books, especially board books.  My dad sent Sweet Pea "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" for her birthday to go right along with her birthday theme.  Little fingers LOVE those holes.

Nana and Grandad sent Sweet Pea a fun set of link toys.  Toys like this that fit so well in their hands and help them practice fine motor skills are always a big win.

Looking for something fun for Easter?  Sweet Pea isn't lucky enough to have one of these for her birthday, but my sister Katie posted a tutorial for these ADORABLE and EASY bunny hats.  Isn't her the Big O cute?!?

Of course cute outfits are always nice to have.  I can't speak for everyone, but we love it if the clothes are just a bit big because then our little one gets the most use out of it and it's sure to fit.  If you want to make a cute Very Hungry Caterpillar outfit, I'll have a tutorial up soon!

In general when you're looking for toys for little ones, at least our little ones, is that they need to fit will in their hands.  Sweet Pea favorite things fit in her hand easily with her hand closes.  Some of her favorite things to carry around...pegs for a game we have, this plastic leopard, pens and pencils (which we try to discourage), little cards, CD's, matchbox cars, etc.

Oh, yeah...and rocks...she loves to carry around rocks...you could always give the little one in your life some rocks for a birthday. ;)

  1. Haha. I love all the pictures of her sweet birthday loot. Sorry she doesn't have a bunny hat from her Auntie Katie! Unfortunately, I only had enough material for one. But please tell her I still love her and that she's plenty cute even without a bunny hat. Oh, and I love your mother in law's idea for those wallet cards. They're adorable! I've been saving the fake junk credit cards that come with offers in the mail, but those kid ones are WAY cuter. I'm also totally loving the ball and those links from Nana and Granddad. Super cute.
