Gone House Hunting

I should have mentioned this earlier...but Hubby got that teaching job he applied for and we were waiting to hear back about.  YEAH!!  He's going to be teaching chemistry, physics, and physical science at a high school in a little tiny town in central Washington.  We're super excited!  For being such a small school, they've got some great science facilities which will make his job nicer...

...and we're going house hunting...TODAY!

We've been married over 10 years and can finally contemplate living somewhere long enough to buy a house!

I've already been contemplating all sorts of super cheap home decore and yard projects I want to do.

Wish us luck!

  1. Oh! I'm so happy for you. Congratulations! He must be good to land a job teaching in this economy. No one is retiring, and very few are hiring. It will be a tough, long year, but you will have lights at the end of each tunnel - i.e. thanksgiving, christmas, spring break, and summer! Happy house hunting, and congratulations!

  4. Well, it's been decided for now that we will be renting. The only house for sale in the same town as hubby's job has a ton of great features...but when we first saw it a couple weeks ago there was definitely a plumbing problem. (The drains had backed up in both bathrooms and in one case spilled over onto the floor.) We went back today and found more plumbing problems. (You turn the water on in one of the bathrooms and water leaks big time under the house. Also water has been leaking under the foundation from outside and if not corrected will eventually compromise the foundation...and the owner was not telling the truth about several things.

Yeah for bringing Nana and Granddad and a good real estate agent with us to help us find all of these things before we went through the trouble of making an offer. We're a bit bummed because we loved the yard and floor plan. We'll see if he fixes the house...but even then we don't know that we can trust the owner.

We saw another house we liked in the next town over that was in our price range...but we're not ready to commit to a 30 minute commute just yet.

So we'll rent and wait for the right house to come up. Thanks for all the well wishes.

  5. Great news on the job! Bummer about the house... At least with renting you don't have to worry about paying for plumbing problems!
