Pi Belt - Great Nerdy Gift Idea

Here is one of Hubby's Christmas presents.

He's always loved the number Pi and pi-themed stuff.  Now that he's a science teacher, he has a place to wear all things nerdy, and his students think he's cool/nerdy/funny/science teacherish.

I saw a similar belt on Lil' Blue Boo several months ago. and .  I ordered the super soft transfer paper that Ashley recommended from Dharma Trading company.  I've used it in several projects so far (others are coming), and I like it a lot.

Just a warning though...there is a bit of a learning curve to using the transfer paper, so experiment with it a little before using it on your actual project.  There's a fine line between heating it long enough and heating it too long.  Also, you need to use a wooden cutting board or something...not an ironing board...at least not my ironing board.

The options for making a belt like this are pretty much limitless.  All you need is some webbing (or you can make your own belt material with fabric and interfacing), 2 D-rings, and the transfer paper with your design.  Firecracker would love a little belt...or two...I just have to figure out what to put on it.

Please show my sponsors some love...

  6. What a cute idea! I've been wanting to try using transfer paper too but it's always a little intimidating trying something new. You've inspired me!
