Dirt on my Shirt - Read Along with Me

We'd all forgotten about Little Brother's love affair with dirt until we started getting the yard ready for gardening this last week.  I don't know how we could have forgotten, when we have pictures like this from last summer.


Or pictures like this from 3 years ago...

And now we're getting pictures like this from this year.  They've both grown a little, huh?  But they still love dirt. 

Maybe I need to find a book titled "Dirt on the Seat of my Pants."

Little Brother asks to "go garden" everyday now...which means to play in the dirt, not really to garden.


So when Dirt on My Shirt by Jeff Foxworthy (yes, you read that right...) showed up on a search list when I was searching for something else in our library catalog, I put it on hold.

It's a really delightful collection of poems that are just whimsical and funny...geared toward a kid who loves to be in the great outdoors and run a little wild.  Even though there are girls and boys in the pictures, they're definitely more "boy" poems.  It's a fun read-aloud book.

    We are going to have to see if our library has this one It sounds perfect for my little guy. Thanks for all the WONDERFUL book ideas. I can't wait to incoropate some into our Fabulous Friday acitivities this summer!

    My favorite part about playing in the dirt is finding worms. I'll have to look that Foxworthy poetry book up at our library.
