For all you people raising nerdy boys (or know someone raising nerdy boys), the Mud Pi Freezer Paper Stencil Pattern is here!
Or perfect for the SUCH A BOY in your life who has nerdy parents (which is probably more the case with Little Brother.)
I meant to get this up a while ago, but things were so busy with the Read-Along that I didn't get around to it. If you're a regular reader, you might remember that I made each of the kids their own shirt for Pi-Day.
If fact Hubby and I already had Pi Shirts, so we're a whole nerdy family.
We're even such a nerdy family that we included this picture (from Halloween) in our adoption portfolio when we were adopting our second child...who turned out to be Little Brother. When we were getting to know Little Brother's birth parents, his birth dad asked us what kind of Pi shirt his son would get, and we told him it would probably be Mud Pi. It's been almost four years coming, but Little Brother finally got one...and he's so innocent, he doens't even know how nerdy this makes his family.
I thought I'd be able to find some good "Muddy" font on the internet to download and use easy peasy...but none of them were designed to be blown up this big. I ended up printing out the Mud Pi in a regular font and than pencilling in muddiness. So I figured I'd post the stencil here to save another nerdy mom the work.
There are lots of tutorials on the web for how to use freezer paper stencilling...but you can find my freezer paper tutorial here. You'll want to be sure to iron over your painted design (as it says in the tutorial) before washing. I forgot to do that with this shirt, and the pattern faded a bit more than it otherwise would have.

ReplyDeleteI love it! Claim the nerdiness. I am the math nerd in our family (yes, I was a mathlete in jr high and high school), but my skills have atrophied so I don't think I'm qualified to wear the shirts anymore. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is right up my alley. My kids would get a kick out of this as well as a few of our neighbors and friends. Geek is chic these days, didn't you know? ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are quite talented! Not just by designing this but how on earth you people figure out how to get it into a document and webpage for the rest of us to use is beyond me! Thanks! I would love to have you share this at my VIP party this weekend =) http://designergarden.blogspot.com/2011/04/vip-party-10.html
