Favorite Fall Projects

Things have been pretty busy at our house lately.  Between the usual craziness, coaching 1st grade soccer, and getting plans finalized to have our new house built, I haven't been getting many fall crafts done with the kids, but we did do a lot of fun projects last year that sharing again.  All of these projects, except the last one have at least one children's book to go along with the activity.

Printable Pumpkin Seed Packets to save seeds for next year.

Fall Trees Art...I love that this project used several mediums and worked even with really young children.

Monster Cupcakes...Perfect fall treat, and a nice alternative to scary looking monsters.  You can see how we used them as a book activity here.

Leaf shirts to go along with some wonderful Lois Ehlert books.  I gave the kids the fabric leaves and they arranged them into their own designs.

Pumpkin Soup, complete with spiders and spider webs...This goes really well with the book Pumpkin Soup which is an adorable story about friends and cooperation.

And finally if you're looking to decorate in a festive, but not too scary way, you might want to read Hero Cat and make a few of these cats with glowing eyes for your windows...

...and this last activity doesn't have a book recommendation with the post, but the wax paper fall leaves were beautiful and fun to make.  This post doesn't have a book recommendation, but there are tons of fall leaves books out there.  One particular favorite for young kids is "I am a Leaf" by Jean Marazollo.

If you're interested in more fun ideas to go with children's books, you can see my children's books page here.

There are lots more autumn and Halloween themed projects in my archives to check out, and I'll be highlighting a few more in the next week or so.  What are some of your favorite fall projects?  Feel free to leave your link in my comments. :)

  2. How fun! I think we're going to do some apple stamping for preschool this week. My plan is to have Olivia do it on some knit fabric and then sew it into a t-shirt for her. We'll see how it goes... :)
