Thanksgiving, Washing a Rainbow, and Other Tidbits

We just got back from a super enjoyable Thanksgiving visit to Hubby's parents.  I thought I might post a bit while we were gone, but the trip was filled with hanging out with family and a bit of shopping and craft projects.

Now the kids are in bed, Hubby's gone off to the school to get his lessons ready for Monday, and I've just tossed these pretties into the washing machine.

I don't usually buy fat quarters because they're a little more expensive for the amount of fabric you get, but I needed just small pieces of specific kinds of patterns for Little Brother's solar system quilt, and I was surprised that quite a few of them were not available on bolts.  There's something about bright colored quilting fabric that just warms my heart.  I'm excited to get started.

And I also wanted to share some pictures from Thanksgiving.  I have a lot to be thankful for.  First and foremost on my list is my family.  There was a time when we wondered if we'd ever be able to have kids.  Not only were we blessed with two adoptions (Firecracker and Little Brother), but were also blessed Sweet Pea and now another little one on the way.  We truly are blessed.

This is a bit of what Thanksgiving looked like for us.  The kids helping Grandpa cook the turkey in his dutch ovens.  (He had just gotten back from a Thanksgiving run.)

Hanging out with cousins...

Reading Biscuit with Grandma...

And of course...the men playing a few games of chess...
They watched a little football too, but the chess games are far more important.

And after all the festivities and Black Friday Shopping (We went to Jo-Anns, Goodwill, and grocery shopping and called it a day.) had settled down, I worked on a little craft project I'd brought with me.  I'm super excited about how it turned out, but it's worth a full tutorial of it's own, so you're just going to have to wait a bit...

Now we're back home.  The kids are in bed (and asleep!).  Hubby headed over to his classroom to get his lessons ready for Monday.  I updated a few old posts with better links to the free patterns I offer.  (When if you find an old post that still has the Scribd links that are now asking you to pay let me know, so I can update them.)  The fabric is in the dryer, and I'm going to go draw out the pattern for Little Brother's Quilt.  I hope your evening is just as peaceful.

How was your Thanksgiving weekend?
