I-Spy Orion and the Start of School

The daughter of a friend of mine participated in one of the previous I-Spy swaps and she needed help finishing up her quilt.  She needed it done soon.  Of course it really doesn't take much convincing for me to spend the day sewing with a friend.  My Becca always loves seeing Big Becca...and was thrilled to get to help pull out the pins for her.  Several people have been asking about when the next I-Spy Swap will be...and it's coming in a week or two.  They fill up fast, so if you want to get an email when the swap opens, then leave a comment on this post or email me.   If you're interested in participating in an I-Spy Swap, I'm not planning on doing any soon, but you can sign up to get an email when/if we do another one here.  I also ended up with a couple extra sets from our last swap, and those are here in my Etsy shop.

I think it turned out great for her first quilt.

And I had plenty of time to help her today, because it was the first day of school or our older kiddos.  Gosh, I love them...but the house is so much calmer during the day when they're at school.  They both got great teachers who will take good care of them.

And they've grown a lot since last year, eh?

And I'd really been hoping to get my Hexies by Halves completely converted over to PDF format tonight...but this fellow took a 2 1/2 hour nap after school and was bright-eyed and anxious to work on a project for his room...so I spent the evening working on this...any guesses what it is?

And I also spent some time this afternoon whipping these up.  These Hedwig necklaces have been more popular than I'd imagined and I needed to get some new ones put together to restock the shop.  If you'd like to buy one, you can find them here.

Please show my sponsors some love...

  1. Ahh...I wondered when "Orion" was going to show up in this post. Are you and Seth going to paint some glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling?

  2. What a great first quilt! I'm just finishing a couple of Ispy quilts for my boys bunk beds- they are all pieced just need to be quilted. I think ispy quilts are great fun! Also, I love how your kids are perfectly stepstooled right now! What a great picture. :)

  3. There is something so sweet about little ones sending off the big ones! By the time my oldest was gone all day, I still had four left at home. Not much quieter :)

  4. No guesses as to what you're making with Orion...but I can't wait to see what it is (cause it looks cool already). My youngest is 16, but I'd love to make an Eye Spy quilt for my younger visitors! Let me know when it starts! I'll be watching for Orion :)

  7. Your necklaces are awesome, I can see why they are flying out the door ;). All the kids really have grown. They grow too fast. I can not wait to see what you are doing with the stars in his room. Looks like constellations to me :)
