Christmas Jumble Quilt - Modern Christmas Quilt - Throw Quilt

I decided if I was going to get a Christmas Quilt done this year, the only way to be sure of it, was to get it done early.  I signed up for my first craft fair a while back.  It's a Christmas Fair in the Bellevue, WA area and I figured I should try to have at least one Christmas Quilt there (although it's listed here in my Etsy Quilt Shop, and if the Christmas Quilt sells before the fair, I certainly won't complain.)

It essentially uses the same pattern I've been using for my Harry Potter quilts (Gryffindor Quilt here, Hufflepuff Quilt here, and all four Hogwarts Houses here), but with three colors to work with instead of just two house colors.  With these quilts, I try to work in different visual textures, so if you look closely, there's some homespun plaid, tone-on-tone houndstooth, polka dots, swirls, stripes, and even some metallic gold.

It's a really fast pattern to sew up, and I love the results, so I'll be getting the pattern written up soon.

As with most of my recent quilts, this one is an oversize throw, so it was too big for one width of fabric on the back.  My favorite backing material is Kona Cotton because it's thick, durable, and less expensive than designer prints.  Plus there are so many colors to choose from, I can just about always get the color I need.  (No, this isn't an ad...I just love the stuff.)  The light green on the back is Kona Green Tea.

This quilt is available to purchase from Pieces by Polly Quilts here.

What about you?  Have you started any Christmas projects yet?  Now I've got a Halloween Quilt I need to get started on.

  1. I really need to work on Christmas stuff. Nevermind halloween and just fall in general. Ha! I love Kona Green Tea! I got some of it a while back to match my Sunnyside charm squares. It was perfect.
