Sunday Family Walks

Firecracker gets what is called "Tic Tac Toe" homework.  She's given a Tic Tac Toe grid with 9 possible assignments and has to do 3 of them to make a Tic-Tac-Toe.  We tend to have her do more than 3 of them because she has fun with them and a few of them are a bit too easy.  Anyway, one of her assignments a couple weeks ago was to draw a picture and tell us about it.  We had her draw the picture, tell us about it, and then write about it too.

As you have probably guessed, we often go for walks on Sunday to spend time together...usually just before bedtime to help the kids get some energy out after church and naps and dinner, and helps everyone be happy during that last cranky half hour before stories and bed.

There are a lot of things I like about this picture, and I just wanted to share.  What does your family do together on Sunday?

  1. Friday at in-service, the high school teachers learned about tic-tac-toe assignments. :) I used them a lot several years ago, but I've gotten out of the habit. I think I need to start using them again - kids of all ages appreciate having choices. Plus it's less boring for me to grade. :)

There are so many things to love about that family portrait. You are all so nice and skinny! Polly, you have an amazing tan. Interesting that the boys have teeth and square arms, and the girls have hands. And that Firecracker is really looking up to YOU. :) Thanks for posting, and enjoy your walk today.

  2. That's a great plan for homework. E has one assignment each evening and sometimes she thinks it's dumb and just doesn't want to do it. Then I have to cajole, encourage, and finally order her to finish her homework. No fun (and rather ridiculous) for a Kindergartner.
