Our kids love blankets...any kind of blankets...especially their "special" blankets that can and will never be replaced no matter how ratty looking they are. They also love fleece blankets. They also have a TON of blankets of just about every variety.
Remember this fabric from this project? When I brought home this fleece from Jo-Anns Black Friday sale, though, I just had to make something for Little Brother. His love affair with cars is still in full swing. I get tired of all the blankets getting drug around the house, though, so I decided to make him a fleece sheet for his toddler bed. That way could have warm and cozy new blanket...that would never leave his bed.
I started with Dana's tutorial on MADE, and after emailing her with a few questions, she suggested I check out this tutorial on Prudent Baby. I used some tips from both to make it.
I don't remember the exact measurements I used, but I do remember I cut out 10 inch squares from each corner. (I wanted to make sure it was deep enough because I hate it when the fitted sheets come off.) 10 was plenty deep, and I think the 8 or 9 recommended in their tutorials would have been fine. I ended up sewing the elastic directly onto the corners and the short ends, rather than making a casing to go all the way around. I figured that would be better with the bulky fleece.
