I've been a little surprised at some of the crafty things (read cute cupcakes) we've had around here lately. Mostly because when I'm in the middle of an assignment scoring SATs, everything non-essential around the house usually gets put off (as well as some of the essentials.) This time around I got smart though, and I've hired a middle school friend come over and play with the kids and keep them entertained after school a couple days a week, while I work at the computer.
Making cupcakes with them is a sure fire way to keep the kids happy and entertained.
A couple days ago, she helped the kids bake cupcakes and make frosting and I showed them how to turn them into these cute ghosts. I first saw them on Tatertots and Jello a few weeks ago, and the original is from Sugar Swings.
Seriously, once the frosting is made, these take about 5 minutes to decorate.
We used our favorite 7-Minute Frosting with these, which is super creamy and much healthier than regular frosting. (There was no way, I was going to pile on that much regular buttercream frosting on one cupcake.) The original idea used cool-whip which would also be good. We piped the frosting through a gallon size ziploc baggie with a corner snipped off for super easy clean up. Sorry...no pics of the process...but they're so easy, you don't really need them.
Then they added two mini-chocolate chips for the eyes and a regular chocolate chip for the mouth. The originals used raisens...but we like our chocolate around here.
Please show my sponsors some love...
Cute! This kind of cupcake decorating is totally my speed. :)
