I was excited to receive this custom order for a Hufflepuff quilt. You can order your own custom quilt here, or you can purchase the PDF Pattern for Hufflepuff quilt here.
Not only because it's fun to create things for the other Hogwarts houses, but also because the customer wanted a Golden Snitch on the back instead of the Deathly Hallows symbol.
I'd had a hard time deciding between a Deathly Hallows symbol or golden snitch on the first quilt, so I was happy to try the snitch out.
This just might be my favorite Harry Potter Quilt yet. As good as the pictures look, I'm afraid they just don't do justice to some of the gorgeous fabrics.
One of the black fabrics has some really rich golden swirls all over it that make me think of magic spells. (When I saw how pretty it was when it arrived, I just might have ordered more in black, red, and blue.)
I've discovered a wonderful little quilt shop just 45 minutes away (that's close around here in the middle of farm country...it's called The Fabric Patch and they do have a great online store too). I got a few of the yellow fabrics from there, but I knew from making the Gryffindor quilts that they didn't have enough yellow-golden fabrics to really satisfy me for this quilt. (I'm pretty picky about the prints to go into these quilts...I try to find tone-on-tone fabrics that don't really have "pictures" in their motifs, so that rules out a lot of choices. I'd ordered some great gold fabrics from Sisters and Quilters a while back, and they didn't disappoint this time. I think the Houndstooth print is my favorite.
I suppose that's one of the things I love about choosing fabric for quilts through. They have to be chosen to give the quilt dimension and texture both when viewed from a distance, and close-up.
Katie had a friend over when we were ready to take pictures of the quilt, so the girls all had fun dressing up and taking pictures.
So now that I've made a Gryffindor and Hufflepuff quilt, I really need someone to order a Ravenclaw and Slytherin to have fun with those colors. You can order your own custom Harry Potter Hogwarts House Quilt here. (If those listings are sold out, please contact me for a renewed listing or you can enter your info here to be informed when I'm taking orders again.) You can also purchase the PDF Pattern for this Hufflepuff quilt here.
(I might be kinda proud that this picture made it onto BuzzFeed here...16 Signs That Your Harry Potter Books Are Actually Your Best Friend).
Our school colors here just happen to be the same as Hufflepuff, so I might need to make us a school spirit quilt, just because I love the colors so much.
